Had some family up for a few days and decided to take a trip to York Yorkshire a truly wonderful ancient cathedral city, a must see. I’ve added a link to some things to see & do from the WikiTravel website which has lots of useful details and contact numbers Click Here. A great day was had by all leisurely strolling the streets taking in all the wonderful architecture, visiting the Cathedral. We had some lunch in a quaint tea room in the Shambles area another must see. another attraction to see is the Jorvik Viking Centre and although we did not go on this occasion it is well worth the visit “Top Tip” book in advance, there is a small booking charge but worth it as the queues can be quite long. Then it was time to walk our lunch off and take a nice stroll around the city walls with some great vantage points for viewing the cathedral and the city, there are also plenty of local well-kept English country gardens to admire.
One day in York is certainly not enough but you can see the main attractions in a day if you start early, but I would recommend at least an overnight stay or two if you want to explore the surrounding area.
Well signing off for now, until the next trip Bon voyage
