Toulouse

Standard

As traveller’s we love to explore as much of the areas we are visiting as we can, and this trip is no exception so we decided to take to the road and visit Toulouse about a one and half hour drive to our east of where we were staying. It is France’s fourth largest city a magnificent city full of stunning architecture, a very large river running through the centre, and a labyrinth of small narrow streets to explore, and of course lots of typical French bars and restaurants with outside seating where you can relax with a coffee and watch the world go by, it has a great atmosphere and buzz about the it. We picked up a city map from the tourist office and off we went, we must have walked miles discovering as much we could, we even followed some people into a very nice building which we thought was a tourist attraction but once inside we discovered we had nearly gatecrashed somebody’s wedding which had us all in fits of laughter, an excellent day.
One thing to note about France is how easy it is to find parking places right in the centre of any of the towns we visited, most are free and the ones that aren’t are very reasonably priced, so for anyone visiting France by car a good tip to bear in mind. Well the end of our first week is upon us and tomorrow we will be heading off to our next area of France, Limousin. We plan to take in the town of Cahors which is on our way up through France so more later.
